Iceland Gull (Larus glaucoides)  by Georg Schreier 2009. This subadult bird (3rdW) next to a Lesser Black-backed Gull, has been found and photographed in February 2009, at Praia de Falesia, near Vilamoura.

Glaucous Gull (Larus hyperboreus) A bird in (worn) first winter plumage - Praia de Faro, 04-02-2009. The passed winter brought a massive influx of Northern Atlantic Gulls to Portugal.

Glaucous Gull (Larus hyperboreus) The same Ind. in flight - the bird was on a sandbank - no chance to get closer. At these days Faro beach was packed with Kittywakes and Little Gulls - both uncommon here.

Glaucous Gull (Larus hyperboreus) Another bird - this one (just ticked) spent some weeks at least, in the fishing harbour of Sagres at the Western Cape of the Algarve.

Iceland Gull (Larus glaucoides) This 1st Winter bird was present at the same time at the same location.

Richard's Pipit (Anthus richardi) The same Ind. as above. the bird were detected by their explosive flight-call and just stood out of other Pipits and Larks by size alone.
